<p dir="ltr">The Argentine pedagogue and psychologist Emilia Ferreiro, a reference in the field of literacy and education that revolutionized with her contributions to the understanding of the evolutionary process of acquisition of the written language, died at the age of 86, according to the Union of Education Workers (UTE). &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">&quot;Her contributions from her to the field of psychogenesis of written language and literacy nurtured thousands of teachers and educators not only in our country but in the world and transformed the teaching-learning processes,&quot; they said from the UTE. &nbsp; <p dir="ltr">Born in Argentina in 1936 and a doctorate at the University of Geneva under the direction of another eminence, Jean Piaget, Ferreiro developed a revolutionary legacy in teaching with enormous repercussions on the theory and practice of literacy. In addition, she was an intellectual committed to the social context and her efforts were dedicated to improving the literacy conditions of the most marginalized sectors of Latin America.
